Time rounding is a feature that allows you to round the time recorded in the Fostering Time Tracking app’s Stopwatch to a specific interval, such as to the nearest quarter hour or to the nearest 5 minutes. This feature is useful if you want to ensure that time is recorded in a consistent manner, or if you need to round time to a specific interval for billing or reporting purposes.

To configure time rounding in the Time Tracking app, you will need to access the app’s Time Tracking Settings page, from the Time Tracking How To & Set Up tab. Within the settings, you can quickly adjust two settings:

  1. Round Time Worked (Minutes) – To set the increment for rounding.

  2. Rounding Mode – Based on the interval entered into the Round Time Worked (Minutes) field, the Rounding Mode rounds the time as follows:

    • Up – Time will round up to the next interval.

    • Down – Time will round down to the previous interval.

    • Both – The time will round up or down to the nearest interval.

Once you’ve selected the desired time rounding interval, the app automatically rounds the time recorded for each task or project to the specified interval. For example, if you have selected “nearest 15 minutes” as the time rounding interval, any time recorded that falls between 7:29 and 7:44 would be rounded down to 7:30, while any time recorded between 7:45 and 8:00 would be rounded up to 8:00.
